Alternative Payment Methods Get No Respect Online Alternative payment methods, such as prepaid value cards and Web currency, are being used online, but according to analysts and merchants alike, they'll never dethrone the king of the dot-com world: the credit card.

Shopping in Athens
Shopping in Athens Downtown Athens is a shoppers paradise. Besides the areas of the Plaka and Monastiraki which are well known to travelers for their large variety of tourist shops all of central Athens is a shopper's Mecca. Streets that were once choked with traffic have now been closed to all motor vehicles and this diverse shopping area has become a walking shoppers paradise with every kind of shop you can imagine, and some you never imagined existed. There are street merchants selling everything from scarves to devices that make stuffed grape leaves or hollow out a zucchini. The clothing shops have quality men and women's apparel from all over the world and the shoe stores make you wonder why your choices at home are so limited. Check out Spiliopoulos towards the bottom of Ermou where I buy my shoes.

Grand Canal Shoppes at the Venetian Review
Grand Canal Shoppes at the Venetian Review With a painted fresco overhead, spacious walkways and a gondola-laden canal, the Venetian provides the perfect ambience for shopping. Using the canal as a guide, patrons sweep along twists and turns, with plenty to browse along the journey. The strolling juggler and the opera trio, dressed in regal opulence, keep all entertained. And the human statue stationed in St. Mark's Square's and the Oculus provides plenty of amusement.

Shopping in Turkey
Shopping in Turkey Shopping in Turkey is great, with open-air markets, covered Turkish bazaars and cheap boutiques everywhere. You're going to want to buy something when you get here so we'll have a brief look (to begin with) at some of the signature products that Turkey is famous for. Carpets, of course, are all around you from the moment you arrive. It would be crazy to try and put a complete buyers guide up here but we'll have a look at some basic things you ought to know.
First things first. If you buy through a tour guide or 'friend' of the carpet seller you can expect to include 30% commission in the price that you pay. This may sound scandalous but that's the way it is. In Cappadocia for example, many tours will include a visit to a carpet making co-operative, here you'll be offered drinks and maybe a snack, accompanied by a presentation or lecture on carpets. They’ll tell you all about natural and artificial dying about the difference between hali and kilim, what sumak work is and lots of other interesting things. They'll show you $5000 carpets and try and sell you a rug for $100. >>>
